Riderless Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFGFEHIH JFJFKLLL

A broken bridle trailingA
A saddle scratched and scarredB
And Brown Bee at the railingA
That rings the station yardB
No stockman sits astride herC
But by those flanks a foamD
Wild Terror was the riderC
That lashed the good mare homeD
-
She snorts across the moonlightE
Through nostrils red and wideF
The challenge of the unbacked coltG
To those who dare not rideF
She snorts across the moonlightE
Through nostrils wide and redH
The terror of a dumb beastI
That has looked upon the deadH
-
His saddle and his bridleJ
We ve softly laid asideF
We ll leave the rough gear idleJ
Till he comes back to rideF
But when the daylight gathersK
And when the dawning palesL
The brown mare stands and whinniesL
With her lean head on the railsL
