As They Come Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGDGDHIHI JDJDKLKLMNMO

Right and left the leaders wheelA
Seeking gap and gateB
Catch his head and give him heelA
Ride your country straightB
Fences are by fortune madeC
Not by rule of thumbD
Lash him at them unafraidC
Take 'em as they comeD
Hedges may be rough and rankE
Thick and three feet throughF
Doubled with a ditch or bankE
What's the odds to youF
Some are standing six feet highG
Twined and twisted someD
Never mind 'em Have a flyG
Take 'em as they comeD
Walls and stiles and cattle gatesH
Ash and oaken railsI
These as fashioned by the fatesH
Slack the slacker's sailsI
Turn the laggard from his lineJ
Turn the timid numbD
All the better chance to shineJ
Take 'em as they comeD
When our paltry years are pastK
Triumphs and regretsL
Whether we went slow or fastK
Soon the world forgetsL
Lucky if some friend should tellM
Handing on your fameN
Good 'un Always went like HellM
Took 'em as they came 'O
