The Helpless Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBB DEFGBB

Those poor heartbroken wretches doomedA
To hear at night the clocks' hard tonesB
They have no beds to warm their limbsC
But with those limbs must warm cold stonesB
Those poor weak men whose coughs and ailingsB
Force them to tear at iron railingsB
-
Those helpless men that starve my pityD
Whose waking day is never doneE
Who save for their own shadows areF
Doomed night and day to walk aloneG
They know no bright face but the sun'sB
So cold and dark are human onesB
