Night Wanderers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGH

They hear the bell of midnight tollA
And shiver in their flesh and soulA
They lie on hard cold wood or stoneB
Iron and ache in every boneB
They hate the night they see no eyesC
Of loved ones in the starlit skiesC
They see the cold dark water nearD
They dare not take long looks for fearD
They'll fall like those poor birds that seeE
A snake's eyes staring at their treeE
Some of them laugh half mad and someF
All through the chilly night are dumbF
Like poor weak infants some converseG
And cough like giants deep and hoarseH
