Nell Barnes Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHDI HJKJ BLML

They lived apart for three long yearsA
Bill Barnes and Nell his wifeB
He took his joy from other girlsC
She led a wicked lifeB
-
Yet ofttimes she would pass his shopD
With some strange man awhileE
And looking meet her husband's frownF
With her malicious smileE
-
Until one day when passing thereG
She saw her man had goneH
And when she saw the empty shopD
She fell down with a moanI
-
And when she heard that he had goneH
Five thousand miles awayJ
And that she's see his face no moreK
She sickened from that dayJ
-
To see his face was health and lifeB
And when it was deniedL
She could not eat and broke her heartM
It was for love she diedL
