In The Country Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EEFG HHII JKLL

This life is sweetest in this woodA
I hear no children cry for foodB
I see no woman white with careC
No man with muscled wasting hereD
-
No doubt it is a selfish thingE
To fly from human sufferingE
No doubt he is a selfish manF
Who shuns poor creatures sad and wanG
-
But 'tis a wretched life to faceH
Hunger in almost every placeH
Cursed with a hand that's empty whenI
The heart is full to help all menI
-
Can I admire the statue greatJ
When living men starve at its feetK
Can I admire the park's green treeL
A roof for homeless miseryL
