Children At Play Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBD EFGFH IJKJK KLMLM

I hear a merry noise indeedA
Is it the geese and ducks that takeB
Their first plunge in a quiet pondC
That into scores of ripples breakB
Or children make this merry soundD
-
I see an oak tree its strong backE
Could not be bent an inch though allF
Its leaves were stone or iron evenG
A boy with many a lusty callF
Rides on a bough bareback through HeavenH
-
I see two children dig a holeI
And plant in it a cherry stoneJ
We'll come to morrow one child saidK
And then the tree will be full grownJ
And all its boughs have cherries redK
-
Ah children what a life to leadK
You love the flowers but when they're pastL
No flowers are missed by your bright eyesM
And when cold winter comes at lastL
Snowflakes shall be your butterfliesM
