When You Are Old Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBAAABC AABBAC

When you are old and I am passed awayA
Passed and your face your golden face is grayA
I think what er the end this dream of mineB
Comforting you a friendly star will shineB
Down the dim slope where you still stumble and strayA
So may it be that so dead yesterdayA
Not sad eyed ghost but generous and gayA
May serve your memories like almighty wineB
When you are oldC
-
Dear Heart it shall be so Under the swayA
Of death the past s enormous disarrayA
Lies hushed and dark Yet though there come no signB
Live on well pleased immortal and divineB
Love shall still tend you as God s angels mayA
When you are oldC
