Tree Old Tree of the Triple CrookA
And the rope of the Black ElectionB
'Tis the faith of the Fool that a race you ruleC
Can never achieve perfectionB
So 'It's O for the time of the new SublimeD
And the better than human wayE
When the Rat poor beast shall come to his ownF
And the Wolf shall have his day 'G
-
For Tree Old Tree of the Triple BeamH
And the power of provocationB
You have cockered the Brute with your dreadful fruitI
Till your fruit is mere stuprationB
And 'It's how should we rise to be pure and wiseJ
And how can we choose but fallK
So long as the Hangman makes us dreadL
And the Noose floats free for all '-
-
So Tree Old Tree of the Triple CoignB
And the trick there's no recallingM
They will haggle and hew till they hack you throughN
And at last they lay you sprawlingM
When 'Hey for the hour of the race in flowerO
And the long good bye to sin '-
And for the lack the fires of Hell gone outP
Of the fuel to keep them in '-
-
But Tree Old Tree of the Triple BoughQ
And the ghastly Dreams that tend youN
Your growth began with the life of ManB
And only his death can end youN
They may tug in line at your hempen twineB
They may flourish with axe and sawR
But your taproot drinks of the Sacred SpringsS
In the living rock of LawR
-
And Tree Old Tree of the Triple ForkT
When the spent sun reels and blundersU
Down a welkin lit with the flare of the PitV
As it seethes in spate and thundersU
Stern on the glare of the tortured airW
Your lines august shall gloomX
And your master beam be the last thing whelmedV
In the ruining roar of DoomX
