The West A Glimmering Lake Of Light Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCBCB DEDEFBGB FHIHABAB

The West a glimmering lake of lightA
A dream of pearly weatherB
The first of stars is burning whiteA
The star we watch togetherB
Is April dead The unresting yearC
Will shape us our SeptemberB
And April's work is done my dearC
Do you not rememberB
-
O gracious eve O happy starD
Still flashing glowing sinkingE
Who lives of lovers near or farD
So glad as I in thinkingE
The gallant world is warm and greenF
For May fulfils NovemberB
When lights and leaves and loves have beenG
Sweet will you rememberB
-
O star benignant and sereneF
I take the good to morrowH
That fills from verge to verge my dreamI
With all its joy and sorrowH
The old sweet spell is unforgotA
That turns to June DecemberB
And tho' the world remembered notA
Love we would rememberB
