Space And Dread And The Dark Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKL MNOPQRSTPI NPUVWPX KYZVA2B2C2

Space and dread and the darkA
Over a livid stretch of skyB
Cloud monsters crawling like a funeral trainC
Of huge primeval presencesD
Stooping beneath the weightE
Of some enormous rudimentary griefF
While in the haunting lonelinessG
The far sea waits and wanders with a soundH
As of the trailing skirts of DestinyI
Passing unseenJ
To some immitigable endK
With her grey henchman DeathL
-
What larve what spectre is thisM
Thrilling the wilderness to lifeN
As with the bodily shape of FearO
What but a desperate senseP
A strong foreboding of those dimQ
Interminable continents forlornR
And many silenced in a duskS
Inviolable utterly and deadT
As the poor dead it huddles and swarms and styesP
In hugger mugger through eternityI
-
Life life let there be lifeN
Better a thousand times the roaring hoursP
When wave and windU
Like the Arch Murderer in flightV
From the Avenger at his heelW
Storm through the desolate fastnessesP
And wild waste places of the worldX
-
Life give me life until the endK
That at the very top of beingY
The battle spirit shouting in my bloodZ
Out of the reddest hell of the fightV
I may be snatched and flungA2
Into the everlasting lullB2
The immortal incommunicable dreamC2
