Operation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGH IIJI DHKL MNOP KMDQ

You are carried in a basketA
Like a carcase from the shamblesB
To the theatre a cockpitC
Where they stretch you on a tableD
-
Then they bid you close your eyelidsE
And they mask you with a napkinF
And the anaesthetic reachesG
Hot and subtle through your beingH
-
And you gasp and reel and shudderI
In a rushing swaying raptureI
While the voices at your elbowJ
Fade receding fainter fartherI
-
Lights about you shower and tumbleD
And your blood seems crystallisingH
Edged and vibrant yet within youK
Racked and hurried back and forwardL
-
Then the lights grow fast and furiousM
And you hear a noise of watersN
And you wrestle blind and dizzyO
In an agony of effortP
-
Till a sudden lull accepts youK
And you sound an utter darknessM
And awaken with a struggleD
On a hushed attentive audienceQ
