In Hospital - Xvii - Interlude Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD DEFG HIDJ KCEJ LDDM NG O

O the fun the fun and frolicA
That The Wind that Shakes the BarleyB
Scatters through a penny whistleC
Tickled with artistic fingersD
-
Kate the scrubber forty summersD
Stout but sportive treads a measureE
Grinning in herself a balletF
Fixed as fate upon her audienceG
-
Stumps are shaking crutch supportedH
Splinted fingers tap the rhythmI
And a head all helmed with plastersD
Wags a measured approbationJ
-
Of their mattress life obliviousK
All the patients brisk and cheerfulC
Are encouraging the dancerE
And applauding the musicianJ
-
Dim the gas lights in the outputL
Of so many ardent smokersD
Full of shadow lurch the cornersD
And the doctor peeps and passesM
-
There are maybe some suspicionsN
Of an alcoholic presenceG
'Tak' a sup of this my wumman '-
New Year comes but once a twelvemonthO
