In Hospital - Xv - 'the Chief' Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDDCCD

His brow spreads large and placid and his eyeA
Is deep and bright with steady looks that stillB
Soft lines of tranquil thought his face fulfillB
His face at once benign and proud and shyA
If envy scout if ignorance denyA
His faultless patience his unyielding willB
Beautiful gentleness and splendid skillB
Innumerable gratitudes replyA
His wise rare smile is sweet with certaintiesC
And seems in all his patients to compelD
Such love and faith as failure cannot quellD
We hold him for another HeraklesC
Battling with custom prejudice diseaseC
As once the son of Zeus with Death and HellD
