Here they trysted here they strayedB
In the leafage dewy and boonC
Many a man and many a maidB
And the morn was merry JuneC
'Death is fleet Life is sweet '-
Sang the blackbird in the mayD
And the hour with flying feetE
While they dreamed was yesterdayD
-
Many a maid and many a manF
Found the leafage close and boonC
Many a destiny beganF
O the morn was merry JuneC
Dead and gone dead and goneG
Hark the blackbird in the mayD
Life and Death went hurrying onH
Cheek on cheek and where were theyD
-
Dust on dust engendering dustI
In the leafage fresh and boonC
Man and maid fulfil their trustI
Still the morn turns merry JuneC
Mother Life Father DeathJ
O the blackbird in the mayD
Each the other's breath for breathJ
Fleet the times of the world awayD
