Blithe Dreams Arise To Greet Us Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEE GHGHIJIJEKEK ALALEMEMENEN EOEOPQQQERER

Blithe dreams arise to greet usA
And life feels clean and newB
For the old love comes to meet usA
In the dawning and the dewB
O'erblown with sunny shadowsC
O'ersped with winds at playD
The woodlands and the meadowsC
Are keeping holidayD
Wild foals are scampering neighingE
Brave merles their hautboys blowF
Come let us go a mayingE
As in the Long AgoE
-
Here we but peak and dwindleG
The clank of chain and craneH
The whir of crank and spindleG
Bewilder heart and brainH
The ends of our endeavourI
Are merely wealth and fameJ
Yet in the still ForeverI
We're one and all the sameJ
Delaying still delayingE
We watch the fading westK
Come let us go a mayingE
Nor fear to take the bestK
-
Yet beautiful and spaciousA
The wise old world appearsL
Yet frank and fair and graciousA
Outlaugh the jocund yearsL
Our arguments disputingE
The universal PanM
Still wanders fluting flutingE
Fluting to maid and manM
Our weary well a wayingE
His music cannot stillN
Come let us go a mayingE
And pipe with him our fillN
-
When wanton winds are flowingE
Among the gladdening glassO
Where hawthorn brakes are blowingE
And meadow perfumes passO
Where morning's grace is greenestP
And fullest noon's of prideQ
Where sunset spreads serenestQ
And sacred night's most wideQ
Where nests are swaying swayingE
And spring's fresh voices callR
Come let us go a mayingE
And bless the God of allR
