Before Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEFGEG

Behold me waiting waiting for the knifeA
A little while and at a leap I stormB
The thick sweet mystery of chloroformB
The drunken dark the little death in lifeA
The gods are good to me I have no wifeA
No innocent child to think of as I nearC
The fateful minute nothing all too dearC
Unmans me for my bout of passive strifeA
Yet am I tremulous and a trifle sickD
And face to face with chance I shrink a littleE
My hopes are strong my will is something weakF
Here comes the basket Thank you I am readyG
But gentlemen my porters life is brittleE
You carry Caesar and his fortunes steadyG
