Attadale, West Highlands Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFGEFG

A black and glassy float opaque and stillA
The loch at furthest ebb supine in sleepB
Reversing mirrored in its luminous deepB
The calm grey skies the solemn spurs of hillA
Heather and corn and wisps of loitering hazeC
The wee white cots black hatted plumed with smokeD
The braes beyond and when the ripple awokeD
They wavered with the jarred and wavering glazeC
The air was hushed and dreamy EvermoreE
A noise of running water whispered nearF
A straggling crow called high and thin A birdG
Trilled from the birch leaves Round the shingled shoreE
Yellow with weed there wandered vague and clearF
Strange vowels mysterious gutturals idly heardG
