Attadale West Highlands Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCBDEEDFGHFGH

To A JA
-
-
A black and glassy float opaque and stillB
The loch at furthest ebb supine in sleepC
Reversing mirrored in its luminous deepC
The calm grey skies the solemn spurs of hillB
Heather and corn and wisps of loitering hazeD
The wee white cots black hatted plumed with smokeE
The braes beyond and when the ripple awokeE
They wavered with the jarred and wavering glazeD
The air was hushed and dreamy EvermoreF
A noise of running water whispered nearG
A straggling crow called high and thin A birdH
Trilled from the birch leaves Round the shingled shoreF
Yellow with weed there wandered vague and clearG
Strange vowels mysterious gutturals idly heardH
