Compensation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDCD

I know the sorrows of the last abyssA
I walked the cold black pools without a starB
I lay on rock of unseen flint and sparB
I heard the execrable serpent hissA
I dreamed of sun fruit tree and virgin's kissA
I woke alone with midnight near and farB
And everlasting hunger keen to marB
But I arose and my reward is thisA
I am no more one more amid the throngC
Though name be naught and lips forever weakD
I seem to know at last of mighty songC
And with no blush no tremor on the cheekD
I do claim consort with the great and strongC
Who suffered ill and had the gift to speakD
