Wisdom. - Proverbs Viii.22-31. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAACDCE FGCHIJIJ IAIAAKAK HLMLININ

Ere God had built the mountainsA
Or raised the fruitful hillsB
Before he fill'd the fountainsA
That feed the running rillsA
In me from everlastingC
The wonderful I AMD
Found pleasures never wastingC
And Wisdom is my nameE
-
-
When like a tent to dwell inF
He spread the skies abroadG
And swathed about the swellingC
Of Ocean's mighty floodH
He wrought by weight and measureI
And I was with him thenJ
Myself the Father's pleasureI
And mine the sons of menJ
-
-
Thus Wisdom's words discoverI
Thy glory and thy graceA
Thou everlasting loverI
Of our unworthy raceA
Thy gracious eye survey'd usA
Ere stars were seen aboveK
In wisdom thou hast made usA
And died for us in loveK
-
-
And couldst thou be delightedH
With creatures such as weL
Who when we saw thee slightedM
And nail'd thee to a treeL
Unfathomable wonderI
And mystery divineN
The voice that speaks in thunderI
Says Sinner I am thineN
