Proverbs viiiA
-
Ere God had built the mountainsB
Or raised the fruitful hillsC
Before he fill'd the fountainsB
That feed the running rillsB
In me from everlastingD
The wonderful I amE
Found pleasures never wastingD
And Wisdom is my nameF
-
When like a tent to dwell inG
He spread the skies abroadH
And swathed about the swellingD
Of Ocean's mighty floodI
He wrought by weight and measureJ
And I was with Him thenK
Myself the Father's pleasureJ
And mine the sons of menK
-
Thus Wisdom's words discoverJ
Thy glory and Thy graceB
Thou everlasting loverJ
Of our unworthy raceB
Thy gracious eye survey'd usB
Ere stars were seen aboveA
In wisdom thou hast made usB
And died for us in loveA
-
And couldst thou be delightedI
With creatures such as weL
Who when we saw Thee slightedM
And nail'd Thee to a treeL
Unfathomable wonderJ
And mystery divineN
The voice that speaks in thunderJ
Says Sinner I am thineN
