Truth And Divine Love Rejected By The World Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEECC FFGGHH IIJKGG

O love of pure and heavenly birthA
O simple truth scarce known on earthA
Whom men resist with stubborn willB
And more perverse and daring stillB
Smother and quench with reasonings vainC
While error and deception reignC
-
Whence comes it that your power the sameD
As His on high from whence you cameD
Ye rarely find a listening earE
Or heart that makes you welcome hereE
Because ye bring reproach and painC
Where'er ye visit in your trainC
-
The world is proud and cannot bearF
The scorn and calumny ye shareF
The praise of men the mark they meanG
They fly the place where ye are seenG
Pure love with scandal in the rearH
Suits not the vain it costs too dearH
-
Then let the price be what it mayI
Though poor I am prepared to payI
Come shame come sorrow spite of tearsJ
Weakness and heart oppressing fearsK
One soul as least shall not repineG
To give you room come reign in mineG
