O God whose favorable eyeA
The sin sick soul revivesB
Holy and heavenly is the joyC
Thy shining presence givesD
-
Not such as hypocrites supposeE
Who with a graceless heartF
Taste not of Thee but drink a doseG
Prepared by Satan's artF
-
Intoxicating joys are theirsH
Who while they boast their lightI
And seem to soar above the starsJ
Are plunging into nightI
-
Lull'd in a soft and fatal sleepK
They sin and yet rejoiceL
Were they indeed the Saviour's sheepK
Would they not hear His voiceL
-
Be mine the comforts that reclaimM
The soul from Satan's powerN
That make me blush for what I amO
And hate my sin the moreP
-
'Tis joy enough my All in AllQ
At Thy dear feet to lieA
Thou wilt not let me lower fallQ
And none can higher flyA
