To The Rev. Mr. Newton, On His Return From Ramsgate Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG HIHI

That ocean you have late surveyedA
Those rocks I too have seenB
But I afflicted and dismayedA
You tranquil and sereneB
-
You from the flood controlling steepC
Saw stretched before your viewD
With conscious joy the threatening deepC
No longer such to youD
-
To me the waves that ceaseless brokeE
Upon the dangerous coastF
Hoarsely and ominously spokeE
Of all my treasure lostG
-
Your sea of troubles you have pastH
And found the peaceful shoreI
I tempest tost and wrecked at lastH
Come home to port no moreI
