To Mrs. Unwin Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDEE

Mary I want a lyre with other stringsA
Such aid from heaven as some have feigned they drewB
An eloquence scarce given to mortals newB
And undebased by praise of meaner thingsA
That ere through age or woe I shed my wingsA
I may record thy worth with honour dueB
In verse as musical as thou art trueB
And that immortalises whom it singsA
But thou hast little need There is a bookC
By seraphs writ with beams of heavenly lightD
On which the eyes of God not rarely lookC
A chronicle of actions just and brightD
There all thy deeds my faithful Mary shineE
And since thou own'st that praise I spare thee mineE
