The Silkworm Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGHHIIJJ KLMNOOOPPQQ

The beams of April ere it goesA
A worm scarce visible discloseA
All winter long content to dwellB
The tenant of his native shellB
The same prolific season givesC
The sustenance by which he livesC
The mulberry leaf a simple storeD
That serves him till he needs no moreD
For his dimensions once completeE
Thenceforth none ever sees him eatE
Though till his growing time be pastF
Scarce ever is he seen to fastF
That hour arrived his work beginsG
He spins and weaves and weaves and spinsG
Till circle upon circle woundH
Careless around him and aroundH
Conceals him with a veil though slightI
Impervious to the keenest sightI
Thus self enclosed as in a caskJ
At length he finishes his taskJ
And though a worm when he was lostK
Or caterpillar at the mostL
When next we see him wings he wearsM
And in papilio pomp appearsN
Becomes oviparous suppliesO
With future worms and future fliesO
The next ensuing year and diesO
Well were it for the world if allP
Who creep about this earthly ballP
Though shorter lived than most he beQ
Were useful in their kind as heQ
