The Rose Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGHG IJIJ KLKL

The rose had been washed just washed in a showerA
Which Mary to Anna conveyedB
The plentiful moisture encumbered the flowerA
And weighed down its beautiful headC
-
The cup was all filled and the leaves were all wetD
And it seemed to a fanciful viewE
To weep for the buds it had left with regretD
On the flourishing bush where it grewE
-
I hastily seized it unfit as it wasF
For a nosegay so dripping and drownedG
And swinging it rudely too rudely alasH
I snapped it it fell to the groundG
-
And such I exclaimed is the pitiless partI
Some act by the delicate mindJ
Regardless of wringing and breaking a heartI
Already to sorrow resignedJ
-
This elegant rose had I shaken it lessK
Might have bloomed with its owner awhileL
And the tear that is wiped with a little addressK
May be followed perhaps by a smileL
