The Pine-apple And The Bee Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEEFFGGHHIIJJKK CCLLMNOOPPQQIIRS

The pine apples in triple rowA
Were basking hot and all in blowA
A bee of most discerning tasteB
Perceived the fragrance as he pass dC
On eager wing the spoiler cameD
And search d for crannies in the frameD
Urged his attempt on every sideE
To every pane his trunk appliedE
But still in vain the frame was tightF
And only pervious to the lightF
Thus having wasted half the dayG
He trimm d his flight another wayG
Methinks I said in thee I findH
The sin and madness of mankindH
To joys forbidden man aspiresI
Consumes his soul with vain desiresI
Folly the spring of his pursuitJ
And disappointment all the fruitJ
While Cynthio ogles as he passesK
The nymph between two chariot glassesK
She is the pine apple and heC
The silly unsuccessful beeC
The maid who views with pensive airL
The show glass fraught with glittering wareL
Sees watches bracelets rings and locketsM
But sighs at thought of empty pocketsN
Like thine her appetite is keenO
But ah the cruel glass betweenO
Our dear delights are often suchP
Exposed to view but not to touchP
The sight our foolish heart inflamesQ
We long for pine apples in framesQ
With hopeless wish one looks and lingersI
One breaks the glass and cuts his fingersI
But they whom truth and wisdom leadR
Can gather honey from a weedS
