The Narrow Way Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFG HIHI JKLK

What thousands never knew the roadA
What thousands hate it when 'tis knownB
None but the chosen tribes of GodC
Will seek or choose it for their ownB
-
A thousand ways in ruin endD
One only leads to joys on highE
By that my willing steps ascendD
Pleased with a journey to the skyE
-
No more I ask or hope to findF
Delight or happiness belowG
Sorrow may well possess the mindF
That feeds where thorns and thistles growG
-
The joy that fades is not for meH
I seek immortal joys aboveI
There glory without end shall beH
The bright reward of faith and loveI
-
Cleave to the world ye sordid wormsJ
Contented lick your native dustK
But God shall fight with all his stormsL
Against the idol of your trustK
