The Light And Glory Of The Word Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFH IJIJ KLKL

The Spirit breathes upon the wordA
And brings the truth to sightB
Precepts and promises affordC
A sanctifying lightB
-
A glory gilds the sacred pageD
Majestic like the sunE
It gives a light to every ageD
It gives but borrows noneE
-
The hand that gave it still suppliesF
The gracious light and heatG
His truths upon the nations riseF
They rise but never setH
-
Let everlasting thanks be thineI
For such a bright displayJ
As makes a world of darkness shineI
With beams of heavenly dayJ
-
My soul rejoices to pursueK
The steps of Him I loveL
Till glory break upon my viewK
In brighter worlds aboveL
