The Hidden Life Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDF GHGH IJIK LMLN OPOP

To tell the Saviour all my wantsA
How pleasing is the taskB
Nor less to praise Him when He grantsC
Beyond what I can askB
-
My laboring spirit vainly seeksD
To tell but half the joyE
With how much tenderness He speaksD
And helps me to replyF
-
Nor were it wise nor should I chooseG
Such secrets to declareH
Like precious wines their taste they loseG
Exposed to open airH
-
But this with boldness I proclaimI
Nor care if thousands hearJ
Sweet is the ointment of His nameI
Not life is half so dearK
-
And can you frown my former friendsL
Who knew what once I wasM
And blame the song that thus commendsL
The Man who bore the crossN
-
Trust me I draw the likeness trueO
And not as fancy paintsP
Such honor may He give to youO
For such have all His saintsP
