Isaiah lviiA
-
The Lord will happiness divineB
On contrite hearts bestowC
Then tell me gracious God is mineB
A contrite heart or noC
-
I hear but seem to hear in vainD
Insensible as steelE
If aught is felt 'tis only painD
To find I cannot feelE
-
I sometimes think myself inclinedF
To love Thee if I couldG
But often feel another mindF
Averse to all that's goodG
-
My best desires are faint and fewA
I fain would strive for moreH
But when I cry My strength renewA
Seem weaker than beforeH
-
Thy saints are comforted I knowC
And love Thy house of prayerI
I therefore go where others goC
But find no comfort thereI
-
Oh make this heart rejoice or acheJ
Decide this doubt for meK
And if it be not broken breakJ
And heal it if it beK
