Temptation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GHII JKLM

The billows swell the winds are highA
Clouds overcast my wintry skyA
Out of the depths to Thee I callB
My fears are great my strength is smallB
-
O Lord the pilot's part performC
And guard and guide me through the stormC
Defend me from each threatening illD
Control the waves say Peace be stillD
-
Amidst the roaring of the seaE
My soul still hangs her hope on TheeE
Thy constant love thy faithful careF
Is all that saves me from despairF
-
Dangers of every shape and nameG
Attend the followers of the LambH
Who leave the world's deceitful shoreI
And leave it to return no moreI
-
Though tempest toss'd and half a wreckJ
My Saviour through the floods I seekK
Let neither winds nor stormy mainL
Force back my shatter'd bark againM
