Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFEGHIHJHHHKLML MHNHHEH EOHHPQP

When Israel by Jehovah call'dA
From Egypt's hostile plainB
Pour'd forth in numbers as the SandC
And sought the adjacent mainB
Then God descended from on highD
To lead the favour'd RaceE
To rule o'er Jacob his NameF
In Judah's Tribe to placeE
The Sea at their approach alarm'dG
In wild amazement fledH
And Jordan's flood was driven backI
Within it's fountainheadH
The Mountains from their basis shookJ
Confess'd the Parent GodH
With sudden throws like Rams they skipp'dH
And broken fell abroadH
The little Hills by the same powerK
Were from their Center tornL
Like Lambs resistless they gave wayM
In Tumult wild upbornL
Ye Waves what strange amazement sayM
Seiz'd on you that you fledH
Thou Jordan too On Israel's marchN
Why driven to thy HeadH
Ye Mountains whence this sudden frightH
That shook you from your baseE
And whence ye little Hills your flightH
-
From Israel's chosen RaceE
Tremble thou Earth Jehovah leadsO
And guards the might HostH
That God who by his awful WordH
Commands the Stream to flowP
From flinty Rocks pouring thenceQ
To form the Lake belowP
