Olney Hymn 27: Welcome To The Table Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGH IJIJ KLKL

This is the feast of heavenly wineA
And God invites to supB
The juices of the living VineA
Were press'd to fill the cupB
-
Oh bless the Saviour ye that eatC
With royal dainties fedD
Not heaven affords a costlier treatC
For Jesus is the breadD
-
The vile the lost He calls to themE
Ye trembling souls appearF
The righteous in their own esteemG
Have no acceptance hereH
-
Approach ye poor nor dare refuseI
The banquet spread for youJ
Dear Saviour this is welcome newsI
Then I may venture tooJ
-
If guilt and sin afford a pleaK
And may obtain a placeL
Surely the Lord will welcome meK
And I shall see his faceL
