Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCBD EEFFGHII BBJJKKLL

Gracious Lord our children seeA
By Thy mercy we are freeA
But shall these alas remainB
Subjects still of Satan's reignB
Israel's young ones when of oldC
Pharaoh threaten'd to withholdC
Then Thy messenger said 'NoB
Let the children also go 'D
-
When the angel of the LordE
Drawing forth his dreadful swordE
Slew with an avenging handF
All the first born of the landF
Then Thy people's door he pass'dG
Where the bloody sign was placedH
Hear us now upon our kneesI
Plead the blood of Christ for theseI
-
Lord we tremble for we knowB
How the fierce malicious foeB
Wheeling round his watchful flightJ
Keeps them ever in his sightJ
Spread Thy pinions King of kingsK
Hide them safe beneath Thy wingsK
Lest the ravenous bird of preyL
Stoop and bear the brood awayL
