The saints should never be dismay'dA
Nor sink in hopeless fearB
For when they least expect His aidA
The Saviour will appearB
-
This Abraham found he raised the knifeC
God saw and said 'ForbearB
Yon ram shall yield his meaner lifeC
Behold the victim there '-
-
Once David seem'd Saul's certain preyB
But hark the foe's at handD
Saul turns his arms another wayB
To save the invaded landD
-
When Jonah sunk beneath the waveE
He thought to rise no moreB
But God prepared a fish to saveE
And bear him to the shoreB
-
Blest proofs of power and grace divineF
That meet us in His wordG
May every deep felt care of mineF
Be trusted with the LordH
-
Wait for His seasonable aidA
And though it tarry waitI
The promise may be long delay'dA
But cannot come too lateI
