Ode To Peace Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DDEFFE GGHIJK LMNOON

Come peace of mind delightful guestA
Return and make thy downy nestA
Once more in this sad heartB
Nor riches I nor power pursueC
Nor hold forbidden joys in viewC
We therefore need not partB
-
Where wilt thou dwell if not with meD
From avarice and ambition freeD
And pleasure's fatal wilesE
For whom alas dost thou prepareF
The sweets that I was wont to shareF
The banquet of thy smilesE
-
The great the gay shall they partakeG
The heaven that thou alone canst makeG
And wilt thou quit the streamH
That murmurs through the dewy meadI
The grove and the sequestered shedJ
To be a guest with themK
-
For thee I panted thee I prizedL
For thee I gladly sacrificedM
Whate'er I loved beforeN
And shall I see thee start awayO
And helpless hopeless hear thee sayO
Farewell we meet no moreN
