Mourning And Longing Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDF GHIH JKJL MNOP QRQR SOTO

The Saviour hides His faceA
My spirit thirsts to proveB
Renew'd supplies of pardoning graceA
And never fading loveC
-
The favor'd souls who knowD
What glories shine in HimE
Pant for His presence as the roeD
Pants for the living streamF
-
What trifles tease me nowG
They swarm like summer fliesH
They cleave to everything I doI
And swim before my eyesH
-
How dull the Sabbath dayJ
Without the Sabbath's LordK
How toilsome then to sing and prayJ
And wait upon the WordL
-
Of all the truths I hearM
How few delight my tasteN
I glean a berry here and thereO
But mourn the vintage pastP
-
Yet let me as I oughtQ
Still hope to be suppliedR
No pleasure else is worth a thoughtQ
Nor shall I be deniedR
-
Though I am but a wormS
Unworthy of His careO
The Lord will my desire performT
And grant me all my prayerO
