Lines On The Death Of Sir William Russel Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEEFFGGHIJJKLCDMN OO

Doomed as I am in solitude to wasteA
The present moments and regret the pastB
Deprived of every joy I valued mostC
My friend torn from me and my mistress lostD
Call not this gloom I wear this anxious mienE
The dull effect of humor or of spleenE
Still still I mourn with each returning dayF
Him snatch'd by fate in early youth awayF
And her thro' tedious years of doubt and painG
Fix'd in her choice and faithful but in vainG
O prone to pity generous and sincereH
Whose eye ne'er yet refus'd the wretch a tearI
Whose heart the real claim of friendship knowsJ
Nor thinks a lover's are but fancied woesJ
See me ere yet my destin'd course half doneK
Cast forth a wand'rer on a world unknownL
See me neglected on the world's rude coastC
Each dear companion of my voyage lostD
Nor ask why clouds of sorrow shade my browM
And ready tears wait only leave to flowN
Why all that soothes a heart from anguish freeO
All that delights the happy palls with meO
