Jehovah-shammah. - Ezekiel Xlviii.35. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC CDED FGHI JKJK DLDL

As birds their infant brood protectA
And spread their wings to shelter themB
Thus saith the Lord to his electA
So will I guard JerusalemC
-
-
And what then is JerusalemC
This darling object of his careD
Where is its worth in God's esteemE
Who built it who inhabits thereD
-
-
Jehovah founded it in bloodF
The blood of his incarnate SonG
There dwell the saints once foes to GodH
The sinners whom he calls his ownI
-
-
There though besieged on every sideJ
Yet much beloved and guarded wellK
From age to age they have defiedJ
The utmost force of earth and hellK
-
-
Let earth repent and hell despairD
This city has a sure defenceL
Her name is call'd The Lord is thereD
And who has power to drive him thenceL
