Jehovah Our Righteousness Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A ABAC DEFE GHGH AIAI AJAJ

Jeremiah xxiiiA
-
My God how perfect are Thy waysA
But mine polluted areB
Sin twines itself about my praiseA
And slides into my prayerC
-
When I would speak what Thou hast doneD
To save me from my sinE
I cannot make Thy mercies knownF
But self applause creeps inE
-
Divine desire that holy flameG
Thy grace creates in meH
Alas impatience is its nameG
When it returns to TheeH
-
This heart a fountain of vile thoughtsA
How does it overflowI
While self upon the surface floatsA
Still bubbling from belowI
-
Let others in the gaudy dressA
Of fancied merit shineJ
The Lord shall be my righteousnessA
The Lord forever mineJ
