Hymn For The Use Of The Sunday School At Olney Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Hear Lord the song of praise and prayerA
In heaven thy dwelling placeB
From infants made the public careA
And taught to seek thy faceB
-
Thanks for thy word and for thy dayC
And grant us we imploreD
Never to waste in sinful playC
Thy holy Sabbaths moreD
-
Thanks that we hear but oh impartE
To each desires sincereF
That we may listen with our heartE
And learn as well as hearG
-
For if vain thoughts the minds engageH
Of elder far than weI
What hope that at our heedless ageH
Our minds should e'er be freeI
-
Much hope if thou our spirits takeJ
Under thy gracious swayC
Who canst the wisest wiser makeJ
And babes as wise as theyC
-
Wisdom and bliss thy word bestowsK
A sun that ne'er declinesL
And be thy mercies showered on thoseK
Who placed us where it shinesL
