Hatred Of Sin Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGI JKLK

Holy Lord God I love Thy truthA
Nor dare Thy least commandment slightB
Yet pierced by sin the serpent's toothA
I mourn the anguish of the biteB
-
But though the poison lurks withinC
Hope bids me still with patience waitD
Till death shall set me free from sinC
Free from the only thing I hateD
-
Had I a throne above the restE
Where angels and archangels dwellF
One sin unslain within my breastE
Would make that heaven as dark as hellF
-
The prisoner sent to breathe fresh airG
And blest with liberty againH
Would mourn were he condemn'd to wearG
One link of all his former chainI
-
But oh no foe invades the blissJ
When glory crowns the Christian's headK
One look at Jesus as He isL
Will strike all sin forever deadK
