Gratitude And Love To God Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFC GHGHII JKJKAA CLCLMM

All are indebted much to theeA
But I far more than allB
From many a deadly snare set freeA
And raised from many a fallB
Overwhelm me from aboveC
Daily with thy boundless loveC
-
What bonds of gratitude I feelD
No language can declareE
Beneath the oppressive weight I reelD
'Tis more than I can bearE
When shall I that blessing proveF
To return thee love for loveC
-
Spirit of charity dispenseG
Thy grace to every heartH
Expel all other spirits thenceG
Drive self from every partH
Charity divine draw nighI
Break the chains in which we lieI
-
All selfish souls whate'er they feignJ
Have still a slavish lotK
They boast of liberty in vainJ
Of love and feel it notK
He whose bosom glows with theeA
He and he alone is freeA
-
Oh blessedness all bliss aboveC
When thy pure fires prevailL
Love only teaches what is loveC
All other lessons failL
We learn its name but not its powersM
Experience only makes it oursM
