Aspirations Of The Soul After God Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDEFGFGHIHIJKJK LMLMNONNPQPQ

My Spouse in whose presence I liveA
Sole object of all my desiresB
Who know'st what a flame I conceiveC
And canst easily double its firesB
How pleasant is all that I meetD
From fear of adversity freeE
I find even sorrow made sweetD
Because 'tis assigned me by theeE
Transported I see thee displayF
Thy riches and glory divineG
I have only my life to repayF
Take what I would gladly resignG
Thy will is the treasure I seekH
For thou art as faithful as strongI
There let me obedient and meekH
Repose myself all the day longI
My spirit and faculties failJ
Oh finish what love has begunK
Destroy what is sinful and frailJ
And dwell in the soul thou hast wonK
Dear theme of my wonder and praiseL
I cry who is worthy as thouM
I can only be silent and gazeL
'Tis all that is left to me nowM
Oh glory in which I am lostN
Too deep for the plummet of thoughtO
On an ocean of Deity tossedN
I am swallowed I sink into noughtN
Yet lost and absorbed as I seemP
I chant to the praise of my KingQ
And though overwhelmed by the themeP
Am happy whenever I singQ
