Abuse Of The Gospel Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF HIHI JKJL DMDM

Too many Lord abuse Thy graceA
In this licentious dayB
And while they boast they see Thy faceA
They turn their own awayB
-
Thy book displays a gracious lightC
That can the blind restoreD
But these are dazzled by the sightC
And blinded still the moreD
-
The pardon such presume uponE
They do not beg but stealF
And when they plead it at Thy throneG
Oh where's the Spirit's sealF
-
Was it for this ye lawless tribeH
The dear Redeemer bledI
Is this the grace the saints imbibeH
From Christ the living headI
-
Ah Lord we know Thy chosen fewJ
Are fed with heavenly fareK
But these the wretched husks they chewJ
Proclaim them what they areL
-
The liberty our hearts imploreD
Is not to live in sinM
But still to wait at Wisdom's doorD
Till Mercy calls us inM
