| The silent pace with which they steal away | C |
| No wealth can bribe no prayers persuade to stay | C |

| And a wide ocean swallows both at last | D |
| Though each resemble each in every part | E |
| A difference strikes at length the musing heart | E |
| Streams never flow in vain where streams abound | F |
| How laughs the land with various plenty crown d | G |
| But time that should enrich the nobler mind | H |
| Neglected leaves a dreary waste behind | H |
