We Are Children Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCADABEDEFEF

CHILDREN indeed are we children that waitA
Within a wondrous dwelling while on highB
Stretch the sad vapors and the voiceless skyB
The house is fair yet all is desolateC
Because our Father comes not clouds of fateA
Sadden above us shivering we espyD
The passing rain the cloud before the gateA
And cry to one another He is nighB
At early morning with a shining FaceE
He left us innocent and lily crown dD
And now this late night cometh on apaceE
We hold each other s hands and look aroundF
Frighted at our own shades Heaven send us graceE
When He returns all will be sleeping soundF
